CePI-POCUS

CePI-POCUS was founded on February 27, 2023, through the initiative of Prof. Dr. Fernanda Raphael Escobar Gimenes (EERP-USP) and Prof. Dr. Vinicius Batista Santos (Escola Paulista de Enfermagem – UNIFESP), with the creation of the Research and Development Center in Point-of-Care Ultrasound for Nurses, the first in Latin America dedicated to Nursing in this emerging area.

Our origin

Since the first meeting, held virtually on March 31, 2023, with only 16 members, the group has grown exponentially—today we are more than 90 professionals, including clinical nurses, researchers, educators, and undergraduate and graduate students from all regions of Brazil.

Our advancements reflect the leading role of Brazilian Nursing in incorporating innovative technologies, with a direct impact on clinical practice and the training of new professionals.

Among the main results achieved are the defense of theses and dissertations, publications in prestigious international journals such as the Journal of Ultrasound and the International Journal of Nursing Knowledge, monthly scientific meetings, national and international partnerships, the offering of postgraduate courses and open training courses, as well as the organization of events of global reach.

In 2024, our Center organized the first international symposium on point-of-care ultrasound for nurses, with over 400 participants from various countries including Brazil, Angola, Portugal, Switzerland, and Germany, and several speakers from Brazil and other countries.

With a new visual identity and ambitious goals, we remain steadfast in our mission to consolidate CePI-POCUS as an international center of excellence, driving the scientific, technical, and technological development of point-of-care ultrasound—with the perspective, rigor, and sensitivity of Brazilian Nursing.
